RAINFALL - BRACKNELL (TAWFIELD): Autumn 2002

Our records here only started in November, 1999 but since we started taking rainfall readings, we (along with much of the area) have had some 'notably' wet months / periods.

Our wettest 'any' month was October 2000 (up to beginning November 2002), with 178.1mm, which was very wet generally, and we comfortably exceeded this figure in November 2002 with: 191.3mm (roughly 300% eLTA)

The major difference between October 2000 and November 2002 was that in the former month, over 50mm came from one event & 27mm from another; in 2002 November, there was *no* event (in the climatological 'day' 09-09Z) with rainfall >=25.0mm: we've just had frequent, somewhat lesser amounts.

Total for October and November (2002)=274.4mm (roughly 220% of eLTA for the complete two months). In 2000, the joint total for these two months was much higher at : 318.1mm (250%), so not coming close.

The total rainfall for the climatological autumn 2002 (September, October & November)=300.1mm (circa 160%), but autumn 2000 much wetter (along with many areas), with total of 404.3mm (~250%). This year (2002), the dry September, and the first 10 days or so of October made a great difference. It is no doubt this fact that has meant we have not (at beginning December 2002) had the widespread fluvial flooding problems of a couple of years ago.
