With the opening of the junction station in 1867, and an established service of passenger & goods trains, West Moors had a railway service to be proud of. The steady but solid growth of the older parts of the village date from this period - and the general development in the villages & hamlets around was also assured.

However, Bournemouth was growing - fast! Schemes were afoot to drive the rails to that town, which would, eventually, spell the end of the good times on the 'Old Road'.
